Installation Scripts Most of the updates included in the OPTIONAL folder consist of multiple files, packages and hot fixes which need to run in order. Some need to run from the system root folder or Windows’ software

distribution folder. In all of these cases an installation_script has been included to automate the process. Simply double-click the script to run it.

Using Renasas USB 3.0 Drivers under VBox 5

From the forums. VirtualBox.org ... “VirtualBox 5.0.10 (or rather its Extension Pack) includes an experimental feature which allows Windows XP guests to use USB 3.0. The key is emulating a Renesas (formerly NEC) uPD720201 xHCI controller instead of the default and better documented Intel Panther Point chip.” To enable the Renesas xHCI controller, set an extradata key as follows: VBoxManage setextradata <vmname> VBoxInternal/Devices/usb-xhci/0/Config/ChipType uPD720201 To go back to the default Intel chip, remove the extradata key as follows: VBoxManage setextradata <vmname> VBoxInternal/Devices/usb-xhci/0/Config/ChipType NOTE: a known bug exists in the Renesas drivers which prevents them working unless the default,

generic USB 2.0 drivers have been installed first. To this end, you should first install Windows XP with USB emulation set to 2.0 before switching to 3.0 and turning on uPD720201 emulation.

Switching Distribution Channels (product key types accepted)

The ALT PID folder contains three sets of installation files, corresponding to each of the three kinds of product keys accepted by Microsoft’s Product Activation. To change the type accepted by the ISO and thereby the resulting copy of WinXP installed just copy the setup files for the desired distribution channel into the [386 root folder.

For step-by-step instructions, see README.PDF in the ALT_PID folder.
